Not much to say, spent Memorial Day with family while I surreptitiously checked my email and the Hub every 5 minutes to see if anything had changed. And I can attest that the videos and cover have had an effect on my sales over the weekend. Had the biggest single-day sales spike and yesterday KU hit over 2000 pages, you naughty perverts you ;). However, until the view count and likes get high enough on the Hub I start invading massive search algorithms, I feel like these videos are only going to trickle in sales for the book.
*shrug*
Need to focus on what I can control instead of what I can't. I'm not trying to be greedy or focused entirely on money, but this all cost me significant cash. I'm hoping to make back some of it in the coming years when the series is finished but I don't really see that happening because I plan on spending about the same for the next two books. Looking at projections I'll probably make back what I spent on this series in ten years.
So if you want to read more Honoka and company sex it up down in Harvardtown, stick around! I'll keep plugging away even if I have to finger myself between every paragraph! Not for myself, but for all of you! I want all my fans to know these words are written with as much clenching and moaning as Honoka experiences in every scene!
But if you want more audiobook goodness, that is going to be indefinitely on hold. I would LOVE to keep spending time and energy and money on it, yet if I keep focused on trying to make the audiobook work I'll slowly drive myself insane AND Book 2 will never get done. I've posted the videos, I've answered the half a dozen emails asking when more will come out, I need to put stuff aside and get back to work. The videos haven't generated enough money to pay for themselves and they probably won't for at least a couple of years.
Side note, a common question I keep getting asked is if the complete audiobook of Growing Problems is available on Audible. This should be obvious to you regularly scheduled viewers, but to everyone new to the Honokaverse, there are only 2 chapters and a small advert available. They are right now found on my page at PornHub and the advert can be found on YouTube. I've looked into publishing just that onto Audible but apparently it doesn't work like that. I might see about getting Chapters 2, 3 and 5 finished then publishing Growing Problems Part 1 on Audible, see if I can get some revenue that way, but this is only in the inception stage and no plans have been made as of right now.
In other news, Plasmid has started work on the cover for Book 2. At least, I sent her a buttload of description to work off of. She works harder than me, so make sure you toss a coin into her busker bucket over at https://www.patreon.com/plasmid . The girl that will be prominently displayed on the cover has already been introduced in Book 1 and will be in the middle of a Harmony moment. A tasty, tasty Harmony moment.
I also went back and heavily rewrote Chapter 17. I just wasn't happy and it was bugging me. I'm actually surprised I haven't done this as much for Book 2 as I did for Book 1. With Book 1, I was constantly going back and forth between progressing the story and rewriting previous chapters. I was even doing it in the middle of Editor-kun's editing, which drove him nuts and had him yelling at me a few times. Come to think of it, that's probably why I don't do it as much anymore, Editor-kun scarred me emotionally.
Oh, and it looks like Jim Butcher is publishing 2 Dresden Files novels this year. I was already planning on putting my life on hold for a week to get through one of them, but with two I don't know if my heart can take it. Honoka might have to change her name to Harrietta and get a leather duster while she smites evil with her wizard's staff.
